Causes and Effects of American Revolution?

I know one cause was the Enlightenment, and the effects were the idea of a perfect nation and how successful America was and everything, but what were the ideas of the Enlightenment that actually led to the revolution, and what were the direct effects? Any answers are greatly appreciated.
