Parents, is this too much to want for my birthday?

It sounds like you're a great son and really care about your family. What I would say is just tell them, but also let them know that if they can't afford it, you won't be hurt in the slightest. I mean, if you ask and they can't afford it, what have you lost? I'm sure they'll understand. Just be understanding and considerate.
