Replace that with The Bible and you have the same problem. You pick and choose what is literal, parable, allegory, etc., based on its popularity with the people, and then change it around at will as the times change. That's just religion for you. Since it's all phony baloney anyway, you can rewrite it whenever you like and it's not going to make a hill of beans.
